Birder's Eye View II

Since 2001, Diana has been writing a twice-monthly column, “Birder’s Eye View,” for the Savannah Morning News.  In 2011, Diana published Birder’s Eye View: Savannah & the Low Country which featured 53 of her articles, organized by season. The book sold through its initial printing of 4000 copies, inspiring Diana to create Volume II.

Birder’s Eye View II: The Low Country continues the tradition of offering a season-by-season introduction to the birds of the coastal Low Country of Georgia and South Carolina. It includes an overview of Low Country habitats, a section on feeding and watching birds in your yard, a new selection of 10 articles per season featuring some of the specialty birds of each season, and a Quick Reference Guide for easy identification of area birds.

In Birder’s Eye View II, the Quick Reference Guide has been expanded to include Ducks, Hawks & Owls, Shorebirds, Gulls & Terns, Sparrows, Warblers, and more. The Resources section has been updated with current websites and contact information. Additionally, the bird checklist has been updated to reflect the current list of the American Ornithologists Union. The book includes more than 600 color photographs, all but 20 taken by the author.

Written with both the casual bird watcher and the dedicated enthusiast in mind, Birder’s Eye View II offers guidance for turning your yard into a welcoming bird habitat, as well as a detailed list of thirty-four of the Low Country’s top bird watching locations, ranging from Charleston, SC down to Cumberland Island, GA.
